Notes from the Registration Desk
Saturday, November 11: Happy Veteran's Day! You always know who the conference veterans are, because they're the people who seem to know everyone a)working on the registration desk, b)waiting in line at the registration desk, and c)are anywhere other than the registration desk. It's great watching people reconnect -- often, conference is the only time people get to see each other. Old library school buddies get caught up on each other's families and careers, library directors who regularly meet in the virtual environment finally get to put names with each others' faces, and regular Joe's like Your Faithful Reporter reaccquaint with old colleagues from jobs and libraries past.
Friday, November 10: The thing that makes volunteering at the registration desk the best assignment of the entire conference...perhaps, in the entire world...is meeting librarians from all over the state. Some of our more far-flung fellow attendees hail from such exotic locales as Yuma, Walsenburg, Granby, Lamar, Aspen, Summit County, and Hugo. We have at least two out-of-staters from the Wyoming State Library and the Farmington Public Library in New Mexico. We have participants from the Aurora Housing Authority, the Bureau of Reclamation, the Iliff School of Theology and the DU School of Law, the Mountain and Plains Library Association, and Colorado Mountain College. We're particularly pleased to report that our colleagues at the Canon City Public Library received a weekend furlough for good behavior.
To all from near and far, no matter who you are, by plane, boat, or car...twinkle twinkle little star...welcome to a ClassiCAL Celebration!
